India, Volkswagen clash in court over record $1.2 billion tax dispute

India has defended its record $1.2 billion tax demand against Volkswagen, saying the German carmaker failed to provide information on time. Volkswagen argues authorities cannot scrutinise imports going back 12 years under a law that limits the review period to five. The dispute comes as the company explores a potential stake sale to JSW.
