50 million Indian children still lack sanitation services in schools: WHO-UNICEF report

India accounted for 50 million of the 244 million children worldwide without school sanitation services in 2025, despite a 14% reduction in schools lacking sanitation. The report also flagged gaps in hygiene and drinking-water access across the country.
