Two past champions, an 81-year-old nominee & one sole debut: Inside the 2026 Booker Prize shortlist

Six novels exploring grief, belonging, love, and identity have been shortlisted for the 2026 Booker Prize. Featuring two former winners, a returning shortlistee, and three authors making their shortlist debut, the selection spans settings from 1988 Kingston to the Isle of Harris. The winner will be named on November 9.
