Global Market: BOJ could raise rates to 2% by June 2027 as inflation risks mount: Sakurai

The Bank of Japan could raise interest rates every three months and take its policy rate to 2% by June 2027 as inflation pressures build, former BOJ board member Makoto Sakurai said. Higher fuel costs, a weaker yen and strong AI-related demand could push Japanese inflation above 3% through early 2027.
