Trump says whoever wins AI wins. But who gets to decide what AI can do?

Today, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei are scheduled to brief the 15-member council on the state and risks of increasingly capable AI. Altman is expected to call for common benchmarks to measure AI capabilities and the safeguards companies put in place as they develop them. Hugging Face co-founder Clément Delangue and AI scientist Yoshua Bengio are also scheduled to participate.
