For all the buzz of small modular reactors and artificial intelligence hyperscalers, the rebirth of the US nuclear power industry looks increasingly old-school. Westinghouse Electric Co. is reportedly set to soon file publicly for a $50 billion initial public offering, and it is no startup. Westinghouse supplied the reactor for America’s first large-scale civilian nuclear power station and traces back to 1886.
