TRAI cracks down on spam tagging, tightens rules for call management apps like Truecaller

TRAI has barred call management apps from flagging or blocking calls from 1600 and 140 number series, unless spam data is shared with telecom operators’ DLT platform. The regulator has also introduced new rules for robocalls and commercial communications.
