US-India trade deal hinges on tariff edge over rivals, says Piyush Goyal

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said the US-India Bilateral Trade Agreement will be finalised once Washington offers India a preferential tariff rate compared with competing economies. He stressed that the absolute tariff level matters less than India’s position against rivals such as Vietnam and Bangladesh, particularly in export-heavy sectors including textiles.
