India’s kitchen feels the pinch as onion prices jump 43% in August

Rising onion, edible oil and LPG prices pushed up the cost of a home-cooked meal in August, even as cheaper potatoes and tomatoes offered some relief. Crisil Intelligence expects onion and edible oil prices to remain firm in the coming months.
