During the 2016 election, 8 million years ago, there was a big debate about whether we should take the many outrageous things President Donald Trump said seriously or literally, or both, or neither. Somehow, even as Trump’s rhetoric regularly attains new heights of ridiculousness, that debate is still relevant. And too many of us are still getting it dangerously wrong.
