Giorgia Meloni’s Italy enters Egypt-Ethiopia showdown over Africa’s longest river after 15 years of failed US and China efforts

Italy has offered to mediate between Egypt and Ethiopia over their long-running Nile water dispute, opening another diplomatic channel in a 15-year standoff centred on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
