Office chair surprise: Deep core muscles activated without the gym

Tightening the waistline and strengthening the core doesn't always require grueling gym sessions. For those who spend long hours sitting and feel the physical strain in their back or a tighter fit in their clothing, a simple seated rotation can activate the deep core muscles that support internal organs and define the silhouette. Execution and Volume This exercise requires only a stable chair. To begin, sit on the very edge of the seat with your back straight and feet planted firmly on the floor. Slightly draw in your stomach to activate the deep abdominal muscles before you start moving. Crossing your arms over your chest helps eliminate momentum and ensures the muscles do the work. Rotate your torso smoothly to one side, then the other. The critical technical requirement is to keep the pelvis completely stationary; it should feel as if it is glued to the seat. According to personal trainer Artem Kiselev, control is more important than the range of motion. If the pelvis or knees shift during the turn, the intensity is too high. The results come specifically from twisting the waist while the lower body remains fixed.
