US Unemployment Rate Would Be Less Representative With Private Data
The logic seems straightforward enough: To make its decisions, the Federal Reserve needs timely and reliable information. A lot of that is public, but increasingly, there is relevant data in private hands. Ergo, the Fed should use these new sources to help the bank be more forward-looking.
