FIA Lifts Ban: Russian and Belarusian Drivers Can Now Compete Under National Symbols
The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) has removed additional restrictions for Russian and Belarusian drivers, teams, and officials. Participants may now compete in international and zonal events using national flags, colors for equipment and vehicles, and national anthems without signing a neutrality declaration. This decision applies to a broad range of disciplines, including Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3, Formula E, the World Rally Championship (WRC), the World Endurance Championship (WEC), and rally raids such as the Dakar Rally. However, the FIA's formal authorization does not guarantee entry into every championship. While the federation has removed its own barrier, a prohibition remains: international and zonal competitions cannot be hosted in Russia or Belarus until further notice. Entry Limitation: The FIA authorization acts as a primary sporting filter. It does not override championship regulations, promoter decisions, or local sanctions that may still prevent specific teams or equipment from competing.
