First Nation-led pilot turns forestry waste into foam with federal backing

Developed through a partnership between UBC and the Wet’suwet’en, the product uses waste wood and other fibres, including logging scraps, bark, sawdust, recycled cardboard and fire-damaged wood. It can be moulded into packaging to replace Styrofoam-style blocks, while a denser version is being tested as building insulation.
