Red Sea Resorts: Fresh Paint, Old Problems

Resorts along the Red Sea coast are undergoing a large-scale upgrade of their room funds following a period of stagnation. For travelers, this shift moves the focus from basic "all-inclusive" packages toward higher service standards and signature gastronomy. However, relying solely on the construction date of a property often leads to errors in choice, as location and infrastructure remain critical factors. Investment trends and hotel stock updates The last three years have seen active investment in 4-5* category properties. Between 15 and 20 new hotels have opened, while over 20 existing objects underwent full renovation or rebranding. The peak of this activity occurred during 2025—2026, adding a dozen modern hotels to the market. Anton Gromov, internal tourism manager: Tourists are currently very demanding regarding room condition and technical equipment, so hotels that have undergone renovation gain an advantage in bookings. Against a general shortage of quality objects, new projects become points of attraction for premium demand.
