ANALYSIS: Private sector about to have bigger role in SA municipalities

The launch of the DA’s manifesto, with its provisions to give the private sector a bigger role in providing services, appears to kick-start a debate about the role of for-profit companies in our councils. But in reality, private companies will take over these roles anyway, either through the DA coming to power or through municipal failure.
