Why some dogs react strongly to their owner's emotional state

Some dogs exhibit a high sensitivity to their owner's emotional state, changes in daily routines, and the general atmosphere of the home. This behavior stems from the animal's ability to read human non-verbal cues—a trait that can foster deep bonds but may also increase canine anxiety during stressful periods. Understanding these reactions is essential for maintaining a predictable environment and ensuring the dog's well-being. Mechanisms of Emotional Sensitivity A dog's high level of observation is not "empathy" in the human sense, but rather a developed skill in reading social stimuli. Dogs monitor facial expressions, vocal tones, body posture, and chemical markers of stress (scent) emitted by humans.
