Sakhalin's railway network sees traffic increase toward 1 million people

Annual passenger traffic on the railway networks of Sakhalin—including routes to Dolinsk, Tomari, and Korsakov—has surpassed 500,000 people. According to Maxim Zhogolev, the regional Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure, current volume has increased from a previous baseline of 400,000 passengers. The figure is now approaching 1 million. Infrastructure Development The growth is attributed to a project aimed at integrating the railway into the urban transport system. To date, 12 of the 14 planned boarding platforms have been installed.
