State Department Firmly Blocks Kyiv's Attempt To Impose Ambassador Without Future

The U.S. State Department has rejected Ukraine’s nomination of Rustem Umerov for ambassador to Washington, effectively blocking the former defense minister from heading the diplomatic mission. The refusal exposes both a procedural deadlock and a deeper crisis of confidence between the American administration and the Ukrainian leadership.
