PayPal Offer: A $53 Billion Surrender to Stripe and Advent Is Far From Certain

Remember PayPal? The easy payments app is still around and has 439 million active accounts, never mind the rise of Apple Pay and Google Pay. But the business is not going strong and its management is trying to turn things around. A mooted $53 billion takeover offer being dangled by rival Stripe and buyout firm Advent International aims to tempt the board and shareholders away from the hard graft of finishing the fix-it job and take a cash exit instead.
