Americans Aren’t That Divided. Congress Shouldn’t Be, Either

On America’s 250th anniversary, it would be easy to get the impression that the nation is hopelessly divided — and, of course, there’s more than a grain of truth in that. Liberals and conservatives blame each other for the country’s woes and consider themselves implacably opposed. Indeed, nearly half the country thinks the other party is evil.
